Lucy Meyle

(b.1989, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland)

Lucy Meyle is an artist from Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, working in sculpture and publication. In her work, she explores ways of considering and relating to animals, and how regulation of their action is unevenly constructed through human colloquial/customary/legal structures. She makes work that draws the archival, the observed, and the absurd into material relation.

Recent exhibitions include the castle and the goat (Goya Curtain, Tokyo), Spring Time is Heart-break (Te Puna o Waiwhetū, Ōtautahi Christchurch), Memories of a Naturalist (Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Ōtepoti Dunedin), wiggling together, falling apart (Michael Lett (Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland), Mews room (play_station gallery, Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington), and Snail Time II (RM Gallery, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland).

Forthcoming commissioned works include a collaborative film for pause, act, void, event at The Govett Brewster/Len Lye Centre, and a solo show at Gus Fisher Gallery as part of The Changing Room
